Minneapolis Shambhala Center
The Minneapolis Shambhala Center began with just a few members who moved from other parts of the country and has developed in a relatively short time into a thriving, vibrant local center. After repeated moves from one rented space to another, the Minneapolis Center decided that it needed to have a more stable location. In 2002, the Center asked the Trust for seed money to help jump-start fund-raising for purchase of a building as a permanent home for the community's activities. The amount requested was $25,000, and the amount provided by the Trust was $14,715.

Testimonials
"When a huge rent increase forced us to move for the fourth time in 10 years, the Minneapolis sangha decided it was time to prepare to buy our own place. Despite the fact that we had less than $2000 in the bank, we felt that it was the right time to be taking this major leap. The grant from the Trust came relatively early in our fundraising process, and it is difficult to describe how much this meant to our community. It really inspired us, inspired our fundraising, and helped us with another grant maker. Because it was such a stretch, we literally could not have done it without the support of the Trust."
