(2012) The Prison Mindfulness Institute (formerly Prison Dharma Network) provides a training and empowerment program for a highly traumatized population of incarcerated women with a context and practices for connecting with their own innate basic goodness as a path toward healing.
They will learn very practical, mindfulness-based skills designed to increase their capacity for self-awareness and reflection, emotion regulation and self-management, social awareness and relationship management. The women will receive thorough training in basic sitting meditation practice. They will also be introduced to Yoga and other mindful movement exercises. This project is based on the delivery of the Path of Freedomâ„¢ curriculum to adult female prisoners and the ongoing adaptation of the program to most effectively meet the needs of this population.
