Goal: $6,127 • Funded: $6,127
(2014) The approach will be to provide mindfulness tools, materials and instruction to incarcerated veterans. VPoM will expand its mindfulness meditation training for incarcerated veterans to eight prisons.
70% of incarcerated veterans served will report a meaningful and statistically significant decrease in PTSD symptoms as measured by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL) pretests and post tests administered at the beginning of the sessions, and again at three and six months. 50% of veterans will experience a decrease in blood pressure as measured by blood pressure readings taken at the beginning of the workshops and again at the conclusion of the workshops.
In general, the expected outcome will be what we have consistently seen in 20 years of teaching meditation in prisons – profoundly positive results.
