The purpose of this project is to purchase and begin populating a unified donation management system for use across the Shambhala mandala. Once this system is used by all entities in Shambhala, it will provide integrated mandala-wide information for the Development Director to work with, and a powerful tool to support local fundraising efforts.
Our purpose is also to streamline and standardize administrative processes regarding donations, thus greatly increasing efficiency, reducing work loads, and expanding our sense of working together in a unified way across the mandala. The Raiser’s Edge NXT software by Blackbaud appears to be an excellent fit for our needs.
There is a long term need for unification of development and financial management on a global level. However, the unique needs and cultural differences outside of North America require careful consideration, and different approaches to fundraising and development than are familiar in the United States and Canada. Sensitive to that, the current scope of this project is exclusively North America. However, the software is capable of global adoption, if and when it becomes appropriate.
The project will be completed in two phases:
Phase 1: Purchase and implement the Raiser’s Edge NXT Starter Package, which will provide donation processing functions and centralize donor data. This application to the Shambhala Trust is for this Phase 1 funding only.
Phase 2: Once the Director of Development is well established in his or her role and ready to expand fundraising efforts, we intend to upgrade to the Essentials Package, and purchase custom donor analytics. These upgrades will identify potential major donors and suggest amounts for the next ask. Phase 2 funding is not included in this application to the Shambhala Trust.
