In order to further establish an actual system of education based on Shambhala principles, this project is to cohere and articulate a curriculum of practices that create a Shambhala culture and developmental education for grades pre-primary to 12 at the Shambhala School.
Creating a coherent set of guidelines and best practices on these themes will bring clarity and integrity to the school’s unique offering of mindful and contemplative education. It will also serve as a valuable resource for other schools or youth programs interested in this approach. However, it will be grounded in the Shambhala tradition, and will not seek to replicate the work of the mindful schools approach, which must by necessity distance itself from any spiritual roots.
